As a native of Northeast Kansas, Jake has worked in public accounting in the area for the past eleven years. In 2017, Jake purchased the practice of Marianne Schmitt, CPA (Hiawatha) and in 2021, purchased the practice of Alan Bowes (Kansas City). The combined firms provide many expanded services that are ideal for clients in many industries.
Jake met his husband, Matt, in college. They have two children, Randee and Kiara. He enjoys trying new food and experiences, running, and cats (dogs occasionally).
Alan Bowes
Alan was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. After working in the tax department for several local and international CPA firms and partnering with multiple firms, he started his own firm in 2009. Alan enjoys helping small businesses succeed and concentrates his services in tax compliance and planning.
When he isn't crunching numbers, Alan enjoys tennis, golf, and traveling. He has a strong interest in music and loves attending concerts. Alan is a self-proclaimed amateur beer snob who loves dogs and anything vintage, including his 1972 International Scout.
Christel tebartz
CPA
Christel Tebartz joined our team in June 2020. She earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Thomas Edison State University and a B.S. in Management with emphasis on Accounting from Park University, formerly Park College. Christel discovered her enjoyment for accounting by accident. While working in a small business environment, she was assigned to the accounting duties out of necessity. To her surprise, Christel looked forward to the portion of the day that covered the pending accounting tasks. As a result, she decided to go back to school to earn her accounting degree and then took the CPA examination.
Christel likes to volunteer in the community. For relaxation, she and her dog, Misty-Grace, enjoy walks in the park or quiet evenings at home.
Carrie Potter
Financial Accountant
Carrie joined Wisdom CPAs in 2017. She grew up in Chanute, in the Southeastern corner of the state. She and her husband, Bryan, met at Kansas State University, where she graduated with degrees in Bakery Science Management and Food Science. Through the years, various opportunities have brought her to bookkeeping and to us. Carrie and Bryan have made their home in Hiawatha for 18 years, with their three sons: Tannim, Jonas, and Beckett. She enjoys making, sharing, and eating foods of all kinds; creating fabric crafts; watching bad movies and great television; and trying to keep one step ahead of her family.

Judy Palmateer began her position as Office Manager in July 2020. Judy and her husband Brian enjoy small town living in the Everest community. Judy enjoys spending time with her 4 daughters Anita, Erica, McKenzie & Tara, 3 grandchildren, crocheting, cooking, and crafting.

Lindsay Matthias grew up in Northeast Kansas. She graduated from Kansas State University in 2015 with a Bachelor Degree in Social Science. She joined Wisdom CPAs in October 2021. Lindsay and her husband and live outside Muscotah, KS with their two daughters and three dogs. She loves coffee, chocolate and cows!
